Our lovely Christmas Cards will also be on sale.

Thurs 11th	Christmas wrapping service The Chimes 10.00am - 7.00pm	Chimes Shopping Centre, Uxbridge	Barclays Bank have kindly given us two dates in December to offer a gift wrapping service at The Chimes and Pavilions shopping Centre in Uxbridge. All monies raised from this fundraising activity will go towards the Scanner Appeal. We do need volunteer wrappers – please call us on 01923 844290 or contact us here to book your place. Please tell your friends, family and colleagues all about this service and the dates we are at Uxbridge – we’ll happily wrap their Christmas gifts for them.

	The Great Mince Pie Day Throughout December	Anytime …any place and with anyone	Organise your very own Great Mince Pie Day. It’s so simple, encourage friends, family, colleagues and even local businesses like your beauty salon to sell mince pies with a cup of tea or coffee. This delicious mince pie break will certainly help our patients this Christmas. Local supermarkets have kindly agreed to support us by donating mince pies - so please take up their generous gift!! Hurry stocks are limited so please contact us here today to pledge your support. We can provide personalized posters, donation boxes and of course YUMMY MINCE PIES!

Chenies Spring Walk 2008

Summer came early to the Chess Valley in Buckinghamshire where the sun shone on the 5th Annual Chenies Walk. A total of 360 walkers passed through woodland and across fields, experiencing the quintessentially English countryside at its best. Many walkers stopped at the Cock Inn, Sarratt and Red Lion at Chenies both of which support the event.

Participants were treated to a ‘Nature Valley’ health bar donated by General Mills Uxbridge, a bottle of water donated by Waitrose Northwood and apples kindly donated by supporters Mr and Mrs Marsh. We are grateful as always to Mrs Macleod Matthews who gives the walkers free entry to her glorious tulip gardens and provides the venue each year, without which the event could not take place. The walk raised £4392 towards the appeal.

Charity Golf Day – Tuesday 16th June 2009, Denham Golf Club, shotgun start 11.00am

Denham Golf Club - steeped in golfing tradition since 1910		The 2008 Charity Golf Day at Denham Golf Club was such a hit with golfers that we have decided to hold next year’s event at Denham once again. Participants will begin the day with coffee & a bacon roll, followed by a round of 18 holes. In the evening, golfers will enjoy a mouth-watering carvery and no doubt be tempted by the charity auction. The entry fee is £100 per golfer and we will be taking bookings for teams of 4. If you wish to book a place for two we will endeavor to match you up with two other golfers to complete your team. (Max handicap ladies = 36 and men = 28). The 2008 Charity Golf Day raised £9,600 towards the appeal and was enjoyed by all the teams who took part. Barclays Bank very generously supported this event with their match-funding scheme, whilst many other local businesses supported the auction and other fundraising activities held during the day.

We are delighted that our stock of more than 100 boxes of mince pies has been allocated to the events shown below.  We have had a great response both from the local supermarkets and our donors and supporters. The table below lists the various events being held in support of the Great Mince Pie Day and we will keep you updated after each event to let you know how much is being raised. Although we have no stocks left you can still help us by baking your own mince pies in support of the Scanner Appeal. Christmas comes early to the Scanner Centre

This year's Christmas Fayre was a great success!

Over 300 people attended the event despite the continuous rain, obviously tempted by the variety of goods on offer by more than 20 stall holders and the welcoming free tea or coffee and biscuit. The sausage rolls and steak and kidney pies literally flew out of the cafe and were hot favourites with many visitors.

Harrow Apollo Male Choir entertained all with wonderful christmas favourites through the day and truly made it a Chrismassy affair. Fayre visitors commented on the traditional atmosphere of the Fayre and many a stall holder said how much they enjoyed the event and would be back again next year.

The event raised £1750 towards the Scanner Appeal and everyone is looking forward to doing it all again next November. Thank you to all our volunteers for their hard work and to all the traders who supported us - finally thank you to all those people who attended the fayre and made it such a success.

The British 10k London Run
Sunday 5th July 2009

This year Cathy Williams, Trustee for the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre joined 12 runners from T & B (Contractors) Ltd and Paul O’Connor from Harefield to raise vital funds for the Scanner Appeal. You too could follow in their footsteps by running in the 2009 British 10K race. The date is set for Sunday 5th July and we have 18 places on offer. London Marathon

Other race news for 2008 Rome Marathon Sunday 16th March 2009 St Albans based T&B (Contractors) Limited put on their running shoes for the Rome Marathon on Sunday 16th March in aid of the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre.
