John Lowe
John Lowe trained as a radiographer at the Royal Free Hospital in London. Returning after a spell abroad, he took a locum post in Nuclear Medicine at St Thomas' Hospital in 1986. Joining the staff permanently he soon obtained his Diploma in Radionuclide Imaging at Guy's Hospital. He was a natural choice for a specialised radiographer when the Clinical PET Centre opened at St Thomas' in 1992. Some 5 years later he was fortunate enough to join Paul Strickland Scanner Centre as Superintendent Radiographer, PET. Since scanning the first patient in May 1997 many changes have taken place, including getting an on site cyclotron and radiochemistry lab and the installation of a PET/CT machine in May 2004. John has remained in post for 10 years because of his conviction that this is the best way to offer a PET/CT service.

We also have a a number of additional permanent members of staff who spend time in PET/CT on a rota basis.
