Formed by the PSSC Board, the R&D Committee maintains an overview of research activities within the Centre. It reports to the Board at its monthly meetings. Membership of the R&D Committee includes all PSSC staff who are involved in research as well as senior staff from Medical and Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics at Mount Vernon Hospital. The Committee provides a forum to discuss research initiatives in the three main imaging modalities for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer at Mount Vernon and other cancer centres. Its formal roles and membership are:

Terms of Reference:

  • Regular reporting on research to the Trustees by the Chairman of R&D Committee.
  • Provision of reports and other material for PSSC Appeals Office.
  • Overview of intellectual property.
  • Reporting of research grant applications and reviews.
  • Coordination of research in PSSC.
  • Academic development.
  • To report on research grant applications and reviews.
  • To provide a forum for discussion re R&D expenditure and income.
  • To make recommendations re staffing and resource to the Trustees.
